Standard Type (Free Running). Standard inserts provide a smooth free running thread. NOTE : Inserts supplied in Master Thread Repair Kits and Sets are Standard type and medium length. Stainless steel thread repair inserts are available in different lengths: Short (One times the diameter (1D) of the bolt or screw) for short thread engagement applications. Medium (1-1/2 times the diameter (1-1/2D) of the bolt or screw) provides sufficient strength in most applications. Long (Two times the diameter (2D) of the bolt or screw) provides higher strength in critical applications, (especially in magnesium).
